A compendium of the most common cricket bets and their settlement rules

Updated over a year ago

The most basic cricket bet markets are very straightforward, however some bet markets may be more complex in nature especially when taking into account the reasoning behind the bet settlement.

We understand that there may be some confusion that can result from this. As such, this article will serve as a guide for better understanding cricket betting markets and how they are settled.

IMPORTANT:

Do note that certain bets may be placed for entire series, therefore please ensure that you select the bet market appropriately. Once a bet is confirmed in the betslip, it can no longer be reversed.

To Win/3-way

To win assumes that one team will win the match. Therefore the bet will be placed on either Team 1 to win or Team 2 to win. On the other hand, 3-way betting takes into account the possibility of a draw between both teams, therefore the user can bet on Team 1 to win, Team 2 win, or both Team 1 and Team 2 to draw.

For example, if the client is betting on Ireland vs Bangladesh, and client places a bet on Ireland to win, then the client is betting that Ireland will win the match.

Example of "To Win" market on the Parimatch website:

Example of "3-Way" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • In matches affected by adverse weather, bets will be settled according to the official result.

  • If there is no official result, all bets will be void.

  • In the case of a tie, if the official competition rules do not determine a winner then dead-heat rules will apply.

  • If a match is abandoned due to external factors, then bets will be void unless a winner is declared based on the official competition rules.

  • If a match is cancelled and it is not replayed or restarted within 48 hours of its advertised start time, then all bets will be void. If there is a change in teams from originally advertised then all bets will be void.

Double Chance

Double chance is a type of bet whereby the user can choose from three options of Team 1 or Team 2 winning, Team 1 winning or draw, and Team 2 winning or draw. The option allows clients to have a higher chance of betting on a correct outcome and consequently this means that the payout will be less since the odds are lower in value.

For example, if the client is betting on India vs Australia, and client places a bet on "No draw" option, then the client is betting that either India or Australia will win.

Example of "Double Chance" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • If there is no official result, all bets will be void.

  • In the case of a tie, if the official competition rules do not determine a winner then dead-heat rules will apply.

Toss Winner

Toss winner is a bet whereby the user predicts that either Team 1 or Team 2 will win the coin toss to determine which team will bat or bowl first.

For example, if the client is betting on New Zealand vs Zimbabwe, and client places a bet on toss winner to be New Zealand, then the client is betting that New Zealand will win the coin toss.

Example of "Toss Winner" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • If no toss takes place, all bets will be void.

  • Please ensure that you have placed a bet on toss winner for a particular match as Toss Winner on Series matches are placed for the entirety of the series.

Most Fours/Sixes

Most Fours/Sixes is a bet where the user predicts that either Team 1 or Team 2 will have the most number of Fours/Sixes boundaries scored.

For example, if the client is betting on Pakistan vs South Africa, and client places a bet on most sixes to be awarded to Pakistan, then the client is betting that Pakistan will have the most amount of sixes in their batting innings.

Example of "Most Fours" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • Bets will be void if it has not been possible to complete at least 80% of the overs scheduled to be bowled in either innings due to external factors (i.e. bad weather) unless settlement of the bet has already been determined or the match has reached its natural conclusion without either innings being shortened to less than 80% of the originally allotted overs. Bets will stand if either innings is shortened due to it reaching a natural conclusion.

  • Only fours/sixes scored from the bat (off any delivery โ€“ legal or not) will count towards the total fours. Overthrows, all-run fours, and extras do not count.

  • Fours scored in a super over do not count.

Most Extras

Most Extras refers to a bet on the team with the most number of extras awarded. Note that extras refers to wide ball, no-ball, leg bye, and bye.

For example, if the client is betting on Australia vs Bangladesh, and client places a bet on most extras to be awarded to Bangladesh, then the client is betting that Bangladesh will have the most amount of extras in their batting innings.

Example of "Most Extras" market on the Parimatch website:

  • Extras in a super over do not count.

Most Catches/Keeper Catches

This is a bet on the team with the most number of catches/keeper catches in the game.

For example, if the client is betting on Sri Lanka vs England, and client places a bet on most catches to be Sri Lanka, then the client is betting that Sri Lanka will have the most number of catch outs against them in their batting innings.

Example of "Most Catches" market on the Parimatch website:

Example of "Most Keeper Catches" market on the Parimatch website:

  • Catches in a super over do not count.

Most Run Outs

Most Run Outs is a bet on the team with the most run outs in the game. Please do keep in mind that when betting on run outs, you are betting on the team who had the most run outs against them.

For example if the client is betting on India vs Pakistan, and they bet on India to have the most run outs, then that means the client is betting that India will have the most run outs against them in their batting innings.

Example of "Most Run Outs" market on the Parimatch website:

  • Run outs in a super over do not count.

Total Fours/Sixes/Boundaries

This is a bet on the total number of fours/sixes/boundaries (both fours and sixes) scored by both teams.

Bets will stand if either innings is shortened due to it reaching a natural conclusion.

  • Only fours/sixes/boundaries scored from the bat (off any delivery โ€“ legal or not) will count towards the total fours/sixes. Overthrows, all run fours and extras do not count.

  • Retired hurt does not count as a dismissal.

Total Runs/Team Total Runs

This is a bet on the total number of runs scored by both teams (if referring to Total Runs) or the total number of runs scored by a specific team (if referring to Team Total Runs).

For example, if the client is betting on Canada vs United Arab Emirates, and client places a bet on total runs to be over 370.5, then the client is betting that the total number of runs scored by both Canada and United Arab Emirates in their batting innings will be over 370.5.

Example of "Total Runs" market on the Parimatch website:

  • Runs scored in a super over do not count.

Total Ducks

Total Ducks is a bet on the total number of batsmen that were dismissed without scoring a single run from both teams.

For example, if the client is betting on England vs Zimbabwe, and client places a bet on total ducks to be under 0.5, then the client is betting that the total number of dismissals where the batsman scored 0 runs from both England and Zimbabwe in their batting innings will be under 0.5.

Example of "Total Runs" market on the Parimatch website:

  • Extras scored in a super over do not count.

Total Run Outs

Total Run Outs is a bet on the total run outs made against both teams in their respective batting innings.

For example, if the client is betting on Pakistan vs Ireland, and client places a bet on total run outs to over 2.5, then the client is betting that the total number of run outs made against both Ireland and Pakistan in their batting innings will be over 2.5.

Example of "Total Run Outs" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • Runs scored in a super over do not count.

Top Bowler

Top Bowler is a bet on the overall top bowler from both teams' innings. The performance of the bowler is based on the total number of wickets they take.

Users can search the source link (i.e. ESPN Best Performance - Bowlers section) to confirm which batsman had the highest number of runs.

Example of "Top Bowler" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • Bets will be void if it has not been possible to complete at least 50% of the overs scheduled to be bowled in either innings at the time the bet was placed due to external factors, including bad weather unless the innings has reached a natural conclusion.

  • If a player was named at the toss, but later is removed as a concussion sub, that player will still be counted, as will the replacement player. If a bowler does not bowl, but was named in the starting XI, bets on that bowler will stand. If a bowler is substituted in after the in-play market has been offered, and takes the most wickets, bets on the market will be void, unless there is a dead-heat. If a substitute (concussion, or otherwise) not named in the original XI bowls at least one delivery in their teams first innings, bets on the market will stand.

  • If two or more bowlers have taken the same number of wickets, the bowler who has conceded the fewest runs will be the winner. If there are two or more bowlers with the same wickets taken and runs conceded, these bets will settle as winners.

  • Wickets taken in a super over do not count.

Player of the Match

This is a bet on the best overall player in the match, irrespective of their team or position.

Users can search the source link (i.e. ESPN Player of the Match section) to confirm which player was awarded the title.

Example of "Player of the Match" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • Bets will be settled on the officially declared man of the match.

  • When two or more players are declared as Players of the match, these bets will settle as winners.

  • If no man of the match is officially declared then all bets will be void.

First/Second/Third Ball of the Match

This is a bet on the outcome of the first/second/third ball of the match. Note that this means that the user should check to see which team was batting first by referring to the toss winner in the source link.

For example, if the client is betting on New Zealand vs Bangladesh, and client places a bet on the first ball to be a wide, then the client needs to check the source link and confirm that the correct team is batting first so that they can confirm if a wide was delivered on the first ball of the match.

Example of "First Ball of the Match" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • Dead balls do not count, at least one ball must be delivered or will be made void.

  • Wides/No Balls/Bye/leg byes - runs allotted to these do not apply in this market e.g. 5 wides is a settled as Wide

Total Wide Balls

Total Wide Balls is a bet on the total number of wide balls received by both teams in their batting innings.

Example of "Total Wide Balls" market on the Parimatch website:

  • Wides delivered in a super over do not count.

Runs Total in Delivery

This is a bet on the total runs scored by a particular team in a predetermined over and delivery.

For example, if the client is betting on India vs Australia, and client places a bet on total runs scored by Australia in delivery #5 of the 10th Over to be over 3.5, then the client is betting that the total number of runs scored by Australia will be more than 3.5 in the 5th delivery of the 10th Over.

Example of "Runs Total in Delivery" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • The result will be determined by the number of runs added to the team total, off the specified delivery.

  • For settlement purposes, all illegal balls count as deliveries. For example, if an over starts with a wide, then the first delivery will be settled as 1 and, although there has not been a legal ball bowled, the next ball will be deemed as delivery 2 for that over.

  • If a delivery leads to free hit or a free hit is to be re-bowled because of an illegal delivery, the runs scored off the additional delivery do not count.

  • All runs, whether off the bat or not are included. For example, a wide with three extra runs taken equates to 4 runs in total off that delivery.

Runs Total in Over

This is a bet on the total runs scored by a particular team in a predetermined over.

For example, if the client is betting on United Arab Emirates vs Afghanistan, and client places a bet on total runs scored by Afghanistan on the 12th Over to be under 7.5, then the client is betting that the total number of runs scored by Afghanistan will be less than 7.5 in the 12th Over.

Example of "Runs Total in Over" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • The specified over must be completed for bets to stand unless settlement has already been determined. If an innings ends during an over then that over will be deemed to be complete unless the innings is ended due to external factors, including bad weather, in which case all bets will be void, unless settlement has already been determined.

  • If the over does not commence for any reason, all bets will be void.

  • Extras and penalty runs will only count if they are accredited to a particular delivery within that over.

Over Odd/Even

Over Odd/Even is a bet on if the total runs scored by a particular team in a predetermined over will be odd or even.

For example, if the client is betting on India vs Bangladesh, and client places a bet on total runs scored by Bangladesh on the 12th Over to be even, then the client will have to check the source link and confirm if Bangladesh scored an even number of runs in the 12th Over.

Example of "Runs Total Odd/Even in Over" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • Zero will be deemed to be an even number.

Match Odd/Even

Match Odd/Even is a bet on if the total runs scored in the entire match by both teams will be odd or even.

For example, if the client is betting on India vs Bangladesh, and client places a bet on total runs in the match to be odd, then the client will have to check the source link and confirm if the final runs scored by both Bangladesh and India. The sum of both teams' runs should be odd in order for the client to win the bet.

Example of "Runs Total Odd/Even in Match" market on the Parimatch website:

First 5/6/10/15/20 Overs

This is a bet on if the total runs scored in the first 5/6/10/15/20 overs of innings by a specific team.

Example of "Total Runs First 10 Overs" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • If the specified number of overs are not complete the bet will be void, unless the team is all out, declares, reaches their target or settlement of the bet has already been determined.

Total Runs Player / Player to score 25/50/75/100 runs / Highest individual score / Top batter total

This is a bet on the individual achievements of a batsman, such as if the batsman will achieve 100 runs or predicting the total runs scored by the top performing batsman in the match.

Example of "Top Batter Total" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • If the batsman finishes the innings not out, as a result of a declaration, the team reaching the end of their allotted overs, or the team reaching their target; his score will be the final result. If a batsman does not bat, the bet will be void. If a batsman is not in the starting 11, bets will be void.

  • If a batsman retires hurt, but returns later, the total runs scored by that batsman in the innings will count. If the batsman does not return later, the final result will be as it stood when the batsman retired.

  • In limited overs matches, bets will be void if it has not been possible to complete at least 80% of the scheduled overs in either innings due to external factors, including bad weather, unless settlement has been determined, or goes on to be determined. Result will be considered determined if the line at which the bet was placed is passed, or the batsman is dismissed.

  • In drawn First Class matches, bets will be void if fewer than 200 overs are bowled, unless settlement of the bet has already been determined.

  • Runs scored in a super over do not count.

Dismissal method (2 ways) / Dismissal method (7 ways) / Player Dismissal method

This is a bet on the dismissal method of a batsman. The 7 dismissal methods are as follows: bowled, catch, keeper catch, stumped, leg before wicket, run out, other (unsportsmanlike conduct).

Example of "Dismissal 2 ways" market on the Parimatch website:

KEY NOTES:

  • If the specified batsman is not out, all bets will be void.

  • If the specified batsman retires, and does not return to bat later, all bets will be void. If that batsman does return to bat later and is out, bets will stand. If the specified wicket does not fall, all bets will be void.
