A compendium of the most common soccer bets and their settlement rules

Updated over a year ago

Most soccer bets are fairly straightforward and there is little cause for confusion, however there are some bet markets which may be more complex in nature.

We understand that there may be some confusion that can result from this. As such, this article will serve as a guide for better understanding soccer betting markets and how they are settled.

Full-Time Result

Full-Time Result is a type of bet whereby the client can place a bet on one of the teams to win or to draw at the end of regular time. Please note that regular time includes injury time but does not include extra time nor penalty shootouts.

For example, if the client is betting on Real Madrid vs Barcelona, and client bets that Real Madrid will win. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if Real Madrid won at the end of regular time (90 minutes + injury time).

Example of "Full-Time Result" market on the Parimatch website:

To Qualify

To Qualify is a type of bet whereby the client can place a bet on one of the teams to qualify to the next round of a tournament. Please note that this type of bet will take the final result into account, including extra time and/or penalty shootouts.

For example, if the client is betting on Liverpool vs Manchester United, and client bets that Liverpool will qualify to the next round. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if Liverpool won at the end of full-time (including extra time and/or penalty shootouts).

Example of "To Qualify" market on the Parimatch website:

Double Chance

Double chance is a type of bet whereby the user can choose from three options of Team 1 or Team 2 winning, Team 1 winning or draw, and Team 2 winning or draw. The option allows clients to have a higher chance of betting on a correct outcome and consequently this means that the payout will be less since the odds are lower in value.

For example, if the client is betting on Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur, and client bets that there will be no draw. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if one of the teams won at the end of regular-time (only 90 minutes + injury time included).

Example of "Double Chance" market on the Parimatch website:

Qualifying Method

Qualifying Method is a type of bet whereby the user can choose which team will qualify to the next round of a tournament and whether or not it will be during regular time, extra time, or after penalty shoot-out.

For example, if the client is betting on Bayern Munich vs Dortmund, and client bets that Bayern Munich will progress to the next round after extra time. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if Bayern Munich won after extra time or if the match was won in regular time or during penalty shoot-out.

Example of "Qualifying Method" market on the Parimatch website:

Match Decided in Extra Time

Match Decided in Extra Time is a type of bet whereby the user predicts if the outcome of the match will be decided in extra time.

Revisiting the previous example, if the client is betting on Bayern Munich vs Dortmund, and client bets that the match will not be decided in extra time. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if the match was decided in regular time or in penalty shoot-out in order to receive their payout.

Example of "Match Decided in Extra Time" market on the Parimatch website:

Match Decided in Penalty Shoot-out

Match Decided in Penalty Shoot-out is a type of bet whereby the user predicts if the outcome of the match will be decided in the penalty shoot-out.

Revisiting the previous example again, if the client is betting on Bayern Munich vs Dortmund, and client bets that the match will be decided in penalty shoot-out. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if the match was decided in penalty shoot-out in order to receive their payout.

Example of "Match Decided in Extra Time" market on the Parimatch website:

Total

Total is a type of whereby the client predicts whether a certain number of total goals will be scored by both teams combined.

For example, if the client is betting on Manchester City vs Paris Saint Germain, and client bets that a total of under 4.5 goals will be scored by both teams. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm how many goals were scored by both teams in order to confirm if they will receive a payout.

Example of "Total" market on the Parimatch website:

Handicap

Handicap is a type of whereby the client predicts whether a team will win after a certain number of goals are added or subtracted from their total.

For example, if the client is betting on Manchester City vs Paris Saint Germain, and client bets that a Manchester City will win despite having their goals reduced by 3 (Manchestery city goals - 3). Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm the total goals scored by Manchester City and then subtract 3 goals and check if Manchester City still wins the game after the deduction in order to receive a payout.

Example of "Total" market on the Parimatch website:

If there are still uncertainties regarding to how to calculate the handicap bets, then you can refer to the "Types of Bets" article for further information.

Asian Total

Asian Total is a type of 2-way bet whereby the client can predict whether the total number of goals/points scored is over or under a predefined threshold. Unlike the European variant where clients will only see increments of 0.5 only (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5...) the Asian variant has increments of 0.25 (0.25, 0.75, 1.25, 1.75...).

For example, consider the bet on TB (1.75) with odds 1.9 In fact, these are two separate bets for TB (1.5) and TB (2), each with odds 1.9 The total bet winnings will be settled using the average odds of the two separate bets. If the team scores 3 goals, both bets will win and the total bet odds will be (1.9 + 1.9) /2=1.9 If the team scores 2 goals, only the bet on TB (1.5) will win, and the bet on TB (2) will be returned with odds 1. In this case, the final odds of the bet will be equal to (1.9 + 1) /2=1.45 If the team scores less than 2 goals, it is a loss, since both bets will be lost.

Example of "Asian Total" market on the Parimatch website:

Both Teams to Score

Both Teams to Score is a type of bet whereby the client predicts whether or not both teams will score in the match.

For example, if the client is betting on Chelsea vs Arsenal, and client bets that both teams will not score in the match. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if in fact both teams did not score a goal each in order to receive a payout.

Example of "Both Teams to Score" market on the Parimatch website:

Team to Score a Goal

Team to Score a Goal is a type of bet whereby the client predicts whether a team will score a goal in the match.

Example of "Team to Score a Goal" market on the Parimatch website:

Correct Score

Correct Score is a type of bet whereby the client predicts the exact number of goals scored by both teams in the match.

Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if in fact both teams did score 2 goals each in the match in order to receive a payout.

Example of "Correct Score" market on the Parimatch website:

Team to Score Goal Number is a type of bet whereby the client predicts which team will score a predefined goal number. For example, if client is betting on Inter Milan vs AC Milan, and client bets that Inter Milan will score goal number 3. Then the client will have to check the source link to confirm if in fact Inter Milan did score goal number 3 in the match in order to receive a payout.

Example of "Team to Score Goal Number (in 1st half)" market on the Parimatch website:

3-way Betting 1 - 15 minute inclusive

This is a type of bet whereby the client bets on the whether Team 1 will win, or Team 2 will win, or it will be a draw within the given interval. Note that this interval will change, so please ensure you have placed the bet on the correct interval.

For example, if Team 1 scored within the 60 - 75 minute interval and the score was 0 - 1 (in favor of Team 2) prior to the interval, then only the goals scored within the 60 - 75 minute interval will be counted, therefore since Team 1 scored 1 goal in that interval, the bet will be settled as a win if the client bet on Team 1.
